Luxardo Cherry Morlacco
aking its name from Rudolph Valentino’s
classic 1922 bullfighting film, Blood and Sand,
this cocktail was made with Scotch whiskey lovers in mind. But you can put away your capes and reach for a champagne coupe instead, matadors. One sip of this classic will change the way you look at Scotch whiskey’s place in the cocktail canon — and that’s no bull.
While this recipe harkens back to the Golden Age of Hollywood with a deceptively simple, yet elegant recipe — our version calls for equal parts scotch (the smoother the better), sweet vermouth, Luxardo Sangue Morlacco (the blood), and fresh orange juice (the sand).
